![]() Whether they were always this way is debatable, but they are souless when you meet.īecause of this, and the fact that they said their determination "wasn't mine, but YOURS", its probably safe to assume they can't produce determination. ![]() They are closer to a "demon" which the player calls to possess PCs to do their bidding. Why would she enlist the aid of the race she hates to kill a race she doesn't hate, which she could destroy all on her own?Ĭhara is not human. Perhaps Chara influences other humans to help her slaughter monsters.īut, as far as we know, Chara is against humanity, and only slaughters the monsters as part of her plan to destroy humanity. Her only chance of destroying humanity would've been to absorb Asgore's soul and then possibly some human souls (assuming a human gains that ability when they absorb a monster soul, since Asriel could absorb monster souls after getting the human souls) but even that's a stretch. If the surface is the same as our world and the year is at least 201X (possibly later if the prologue was actually of Chara falling and not Frisk) then Chara would have almost 0 chance of dodging human weaponry. Regardless of the path Frisk takes, even if their LOVE is capped out, they will ultimately end up walking out of the Underground no stronger against human beings than when they fell in.Īlso, they wouldn't even be able to heal during combat, as human food doesn't possess the instantaneous healing properties that monster food has.Īnyway, my conclusion is that if Chara DID try to Genocide the human world, they'd probably get wrecked.Įxactly, not to mention that there were no guns or tanks or anything of that sort in the Underground, only primitive weapons and magic. They also wouldn't be able to mow down human beings like they could with monsters, as an intent to kill does absolutely nothing to weaken another human being like it does another monster. ![]() In a post-Soulless Pacifist, if we assume the world population in Undertale is the same as ours - 7 billion - then Chara would need to be the 1 in 7000000000 to possess the most Determination if they wanted to be able to mess with the timeline and avoid the consequences of death. If you're on a Genocide run or post Soulless Pacifist, then I'd say Frisk/Chara would have that in spades, allowing them to kill monsters with ease.īut on the surface, neither of those factors would come into play. In addition, the books in the Library indicate that monsters are severely weakened when a being with a huge intent to kill attacks them. The story flat out tells us that monsters are more or less incapable of possessing Determination, so this gives the one and only human in that world the power to toy around with them by screwing around with the timeline. With the story of the Underground, Frisk has two huge advantages over the monsters, through their Determination, and their 'killing intent.' It's a brilliant game, no question, albeit one which trolls just about everybody who plays it.I've been wondering that myself for a while. Worse still, if you get the worst ending first, even a subsequent pacifist run on the same file will lead to a warped "Soulless Pacifist" version of the happy ending, in effect creating an utter existential nightmare for completionists. If you decide to go ahead with it, in your new playthrough characters will be acutely aware of what you've done. The only way to get the real, "good" ending is to play as a pacifist, yet even if you do achieve the happy ending, if you also attempt to try out any of the other two play styles on the same file, the game will literally beg you not to overwrite the happy conclusion. ![]() Progressing these attributes will lead to the game's "bad" ending, where the player is outed as the true antagonist of the story, and every "villain" you killed throughout the game was simply trying to stop your rampage.Įven if you decide to spare some of your "enemies," you'll be admonished for killing all the others, while being reminded that they all had friends and families who will miss them. The end of Undertale reveals that "EXP" actually stands for "Execution Points," while "LV" (initially believed to mean "LOVE") actually means "Level of Violence." ![]()
